Sunday Stash Report, 11-9-08

  • Incoming Yardage to date: 84 yds.
  • Outgoing Yardage to date:  116 & 5/12 yds.
  • Total Stash Busted to date: 32 & 5/12 yds.

I’m hanging in there with the stash busting! I busted 2.75 yds. on the final border of one of my 9P & stripe quilts.  That has me over 30 yards now, which is just over two whole bolts worth out of closet.  This quilt top is HUGE!  The book says it’s 108″ square.  Hmmm…mine is 114″!  Anyway, thanks to everyone who suggested adding a small accent border between the red border and the rest of it, to keep the red 9P from disappearing into the border.  It was the perfect solution.  It’s so big, I had trouble getting a good pic for you.

I also got the pieces cut out for my guild mystery quilt.  I’m not counting this in my stash totals til I get it sewn together.

And, I only have about three or so more rows left to finish the quilting on my customers Turning Twenty Again.  I won’t bore you with anymore pics of the the quilting til I get it finished.  And that probably won’t be til this next weekend, as each row takes me an hour, it’s not something I can work on during my lunch breaks.  And I may not be up to it the evenings after work.  Plus, I’m taking tomorrow off, in addition to getting Veteran’s day off, and going to spend a day & night with my parents, and my aunt & uncle that will be visiting.  That will be fun!  So you may not hear much more out of me til later in the week.  Have a good one!

Doodles In Thread

I got started on the quilt.  I couldn’t wait til I the morning sunshine was coming in to try to get some pics.

I also wanted to address a question that Sharon asked me, in my previous post.  She asked if I’d ever thought about making my doodles into a pattern.  I answered her privately, but I wanted to publicly give credit where it’s due.  I told her no, because I don’t feel they are mine to make into a pattern.  Sure I put my own spin on it, but I am only quilting what I’ve learned from watching Nichole Webb & Jamie Wallen’s dvd’s.  They are awesome quilters, and awesome teachers.

One row down…only a gagillion more to go. 🙂

WIP Wednesday

I had hoped to have this quilt loaded by today, but I had a quickie Christmas table runner come in that I squeezed in first.  Tonight, I’m just too worn out to load it.  I’m still feeling the effects of the crud I had caught last week.  I’m just drained by the end of the day.  This is a big kingsize Turning Twenty Again, and my customer has requested that I just freehand it.  She’s one of my best customers and I enjoy quilting for her.  I’m going to have fun with this one.

I’ve been brushing up on my freehanding with some doodling.  This one isn’t very good, but I left the notebook with the better ones in it at work today.  Still, you should be able to get the idea of how I’m planning on quilting it.

It’s for the same customer that brought me this Wizard of Oz  to quilt, and the gorgeous kingsize sampler in this post.  She also generously gives me permission to post pics of her projects.  She said she feels they are part mine, also.  🙂  I will post some quilting in progress pics once I get going on it.

Sunday Stash Report, 11-2-08

I busted four more yards of fleece fabric this week on a fleece blanket for a customer.  No new fabric came in.

  • Incoming Yardage to date: 84 yds.
  • Outgoing Yardage to date:  113 & 2/3 yds.
  • Total Stash Busted to date: 29 & 2/3 yds.

I finished the binding and label on the Chinese Coins baby quilt.  A quick wash and it will be ready to be on it’s way to it’s new family.  I used Terri Watson & Michele Wyman’s Star Swirl panto for the quilting.

I finally got my storm at sea completely finished, including a hanging sleeve.

I also was busy at the longarm this past week, working on the three lap quilts, one baby quilt, and the four casserole cozies for one customer, along with the aforementioned fleece blanket.  I lol’d when I read this insert in the package with the casserole cozies.

The casserole is NOT included?  Really?  Really!  Wow…

And, since I’m kind of like a kid with a new toy since I figured out the video posting, and I didn’t have anything really interesting to post, I’m giving BunBun some time in the spotlight…hehehehe.

I have some really fun customer quilting coming up, barring any technical difficulties, of course.  First one up is a kingsize Turning Twenty Again that my customer told me to just “play on it” and do my thing.  Hopefully, I will get to start on it during this week, but I’ll have to see how it goes at my day job.  If not, this weekend, for sure.

Wednesday WIP and Just Us Quilters Blog – Help!

Ok, the Just Us Quilters blog is back up, but for the life of me, I cannot get the image link back in my sidebar.  I’ve searched the WordPress tutorials, asked Niki, and read the instructions another member left in the comments over there, but I can’t get anything to work with my WordPress widgets.  Can anyone tell me how to get the little picture with the link back over there in my sidebar?  Pretty please!

Ok, Suzanne has started a Wednesday WIP forum on MQR.  So, my WIP’s for the week included:

Completion of the memorial quilt for the Martinez family.  They loved it!

I longarm quilted three OSU lap quilts, and one OSU baby quilt for a customer.

I made my Auntie’s pillow cases.

I’ve also been finishing up the handstitching on my Storm At Sea.  I have the binding and sleeve done, and have only the label to finish.  So, what have you been up to this week?

Thank you, Vicki!

I’ve been wanting to try out Vicki’s pillowcase tutorial for awhile now, and I finally got around to it.  Awesome.

I needed them to be kingsized, so I just adjusted the size of the body.  My aunt wanted some pillowcases to go with the quilt my Mom & I gave her a couple of years ago.  I still had some of the fabrics left in my stash that were in her quilt.  I started on these during my lunch break today, and finished them up after work.  Easy-peasy.  Vicki has lots of cool stuff on her blog.  If you’ve not visited her before, fix yourself a cup of tea or other beverage of your choice, and plan on staying awhile. 🙂

Stash Report, 10-26-08

  • Incoming Yardage to date: 84
  • Outgoing Yardage to date:  109& 2/3 yds.
  • Total Stash Busted to date: 25 & 2/3 yds.

Zero new fabric in this week. 1/4 yard out.  I’ve been busy, busy, busy.  I’ve gotten three lap quilts quilted for a customer, I added the inner small gold border to my 9P & stripe quilt, and I finished the hand stitching of the labels on the memorial quilt last night.  Along with just the day to day stuff that goes on around here…lol.  Hopefully, I’ll have a more interesting post soon.
