Vigil

One of the hardest, most heartbreaking, yet rewarding things I’ve had to do in life is sitting vigil at the bedside of a loved one as they lay dying. Watching the life slowly slip away from their physical bodies. I sat vigil beside my late, beloved husband after life support was turned off after he succumbed to brain surgery complications, and my father as he lost his life to Alzheimer’s. Once again, I’m sitting vigil. My dear, sweet, precious mom, I’ll be right here. Waiting alongside you. I love you forever.
