Yesterday, I finished the quilting on my customer’s butterfly quilt.  She said she liked it.  I sure hope so.  She is planning on putting it in an area show.  It isn’t a judged show, but has viewer’s choice awards. 

I got some of my planting done yesterday.  Since I can’t have real hens & chicks, I planted some. 🙂

I planted some herbs in my pots this year.  So far, I have dill, parsley and cilantro growing in my herb garden, in the corner of my yard.  Have to have some dill & parsley for the swallowtails.  In my pots, I have some dill, basil, mint, and oregano.  I need some more dirt, and want to put some rosemary & thyme in a couple of pots.

I planted some vinca, and my cherry tomatoes.

My son went to the junior/senior prom last night.  He borrowed his Aunt Lisa’s little red sports car, to “arrive” in.  Family members gather at the high school to watch the kids drive up and get out.  They either have a driver, or drive themselves and have a family member waiting to hop in and drive off, after they get out and make their entrance.  All the kids get their pictures taken in front of their “ride”.  There was everything from antique cars, old clunkers, fancy sports cars, and even an old ambulance.  One kid came in a motorcycle.  Of course, there were some rented limos, etc., also.  It was fun.

When I was in school, it was a big deal not to have a “date” for prom, but here, most of the kids go with friends.  The majority, it seemed, were not with dates.  I think that’s pretty cool…they just go and have a good time.  There were carloads of all girls, or guys, or mixed groups of friends.  Some with dates, some without. 

As far as stash reporting, nothing going on there to report.  No changes.

when there are so many thing on the list that need done?! A quick run down of things that all need some attention this weekend.

First, today is “dirt day”.  Hubby is taking me to buy bags of dirt for my pots, and some plants if I want…maybe I will just plant herbs in them this year.  So there is that project.  I need to finish the customer quilt on the machine.  That will definitely get some time and attention.  My son is going to the junior/senior prom tonight.  I will be taking pictures of him.  I drained the hot tub last weekend, and need to work on the cleaning & refilling of that.  My little dog, Lulu, need a bath and some trimming.  The cat needs some grooming.  The house & laundry ALWAYS need some attention.  Hmmm…wonder how much of that I will get accomplished?  Wish me luck and lots of energy! I noticed this rather pretty looking vine growing in my backyard last year.  Curious, I left it and let it grow.  This year, it has little berries on it.  Anyone know what it is? Wild grapes, maybe? Something a bird pooped out, I’m sure! I’m assuming if a bird ate it, and pooped a seed, whatever it is will be edible…right?  I mean, birds know what’s good for them, don’t they?

I finished quilting the borders on the customer wallhanging, that I posted earlier this week.  I hope to finish the center this weekend.  I’ve been pondering my design…and I think I’ve got a solid plan in my head now.

I love it when I get more than one meal from a recipe.  We had plenty leftover from the pork tenderloin recipe I posted yesterday, to have dinner from it tonight, too.  However, tonight, I decided to shred the remaining meat up, along with the little bits of veggies and pineapple left in it, put it in a skillet with some barbecue sauce, and made yummy barbecue sandwiches with it.  AND, there’s enough left for some lunch tomorrow or Saturday.  Two thumbs up!!

Tomorrow is Friday!! Woohoo! I’m always ready for the weekend!

I made this pork tenderloin crockpot recipe for dinner tonight.  Big hit!  It’s from Stephanie’s a Year of Crockpotting blog.  It’s a really cool blog with some good looking recipes, and full of tips from Stephanie.  I just recently learned about it, and it is definitely in my favorites now.

And while I’m giving blog shout outs…I’ve meant to mention this one for awhile.  Im sure that most of you that read my blog are already familiar with Vicki’s Field Trips in Fiber, but for those that might not be…check her out! Her blog is full of all kinds of neat stuff…from her beautiful quilting, to her hand dyed fabrics and t’shirts, to bird watching photos.  Also, she takes the time and effort to compile weekly lists of cool, pretty things she has found on other blogs, for her readers to go see, also.  You will surely be in for a treat when you visit her blog, Field Trips in Fiber.

Or so it seems.  I had hoped to be further along on this by now.  Of course, I haven’t worked only on it this weekend.  I’ve done laundry, shop statements, and various other household chores.  This is all batiks, and I’m using Rainbows thread, so I’m going slowly and carefully.  Of course, outlining those butterflies took a fair amount of time, and I’m tying off and burying all my thread tails.  I did SID in the black border, and am doing a leafy vine in the outer border. 

I would have gotten further, but I had to stop and tweak tension.  I ended up changing bobbin cases, and it got a lot better.  I think something was screwy with the other one.  Then, when I thought I was finished this corner, and these two half sides, I inspected the back and found a big thread bobble on the back of one of the leaf veins.  The top thread was all garbled up on the back, for whatever reason…who knows…just one of the many joys of longarming.  So, I had to pick out two leaves and restitch them.  I still need to bury the thread tails, but it looks good as new.  I just hope that it doesn’t keep happening.  Longarms, apparently, are not crazy about batiks, top and bottom, and that’s what I have going on here.  Though do-able, it does make the quilting more challenging. 

And now Zapper has made an appearance.  Once in awhile I get a pic I’m really kind of proud of, and I think this one came out pretty neat.

And a nameless toad has appeared.  I will have to come up with something for it, as he may turn into one of the regulars…lol.  I’m still waiting to see Green Bean.

I actually started quilting a wallhanging today.  Hopefully, I can post some pics tomorrow.  My son took my camera with him today.  Maybe I am starting to get back in the swing of things.

No stash changes to report.  No quilting going on at all, still.  Don’t worry, that won’t last much longer. 🙂  I just needed a break.  I get that way sometimes.  Then the fever hits again.

Our team did not make it past regionals, with a fifth place finish.  We had one boy from the team qualify for the state tournament as an individual, but my son did not have his best rounds.  It just wasn’t meant to be this year.  So we will keep our fingers crossed for next year, which will be his last chance for him to go with his team, or as an individual himself.  He sure did look good, though!

Man, I love that kid.

And yippee! It must really be spring now.  Mongo has emerged!

This toad is large.  You can’t really tell in the pic, but he (or she?) is about as big as my fist.  I wonder how big it will be after a season of gorging on june bugs? Hopefully, Zapper and Green Bean will be making appearances before long, too.

I worked on laundry and housework this weekend, along with some yard work.  I worked on some of my planting beds.  Tilled them a bit with my “claw” gadget, and planted some flower and herb seeds.  Felt good to be outside in the beautiful weekend weather we had.
