I noticed this rather pretty looking vine growing in my backyard last year. Curious, I left it and let it grow. This year, it has little berries on it. Anyone know what it is? Wild grapes, maybe? Something a bird pooped out, I’m sure! I’m assuming if a bird ate it, and pooped a seed, whatever it is will be edible…right? I mean, birds know what’s good for them, don’t they?
I finished quilting the borders on the customer wallhanging, that I posted earlier this week. I hope to finish the center this weekend. I’ve been pondering my design…and I think I’ve got a solid plan in my head now.
I love it when I get more than one meal from a recipe. We had plenty leftover from the pork tenderloin recipe I posted yesterday, to have dinner from it tonight, too. However, tonight, I decided to shred the remaining meat up, along with the little bits of veggies and pineapple left in it, put it in a skillet with some barbecue sauce, and made yummy barbecue sandwiches with it. AND, there’s enough left for some lunch tomorrow or Saturday. Two thumbs up!!
Tomorrow is Friday!! Woohoo! I’m always ready for the weekend!

POISON SUMAC. That is what the leaves look like though I don’t know about the berries.

Randi. that is a virginia creeper vine. I have been fighting them in my yard for forty years and they are everywhere. I do believe every seed comes up twice. My sincere advice is to dig it up . NOW! They also spread by sending out runners ane can cover a lot of ground quickly. Invasive is a mild word when it is describing virginia creeper.

Randi, I was wrong. That is Virginia Creeper and is a skin irritant to some people and I am one of them.

Definately not grape vines. I think it’s a creeper of some kind and I would not eat the berries. In fact it really is quite an invasive weed.
I can’t wait to try that pork tenderloin recipe! This weekend I hope!
I believe Martha & Freda are right! Guess I better let DH chop it down. I still think it’s pretty, but he won’t be happy with me when it’s all over the place…lol.

Definitely a Virginia Creeper (though I have two, one with leaves like this and another with leaves with five points) I train mine up the side of the house with trellis work, I’m hoping it will keep the sun off the bricks and the bedrooms cooler in summer.

Just about the luck I’d have . . it grows prolifically and seems to be an invasive weed. Sure would have been nice if it had been grapes!

If your not planning on rolling in it or touching it, they turn a beautiful burnish color in the fall.

I love the color of them and grow them over a frame here in Australia……..they do not easily get out of hand here.
